The shared-flat problem

The single most common complaint we hear from this catchment has nothing to do with cleaning. It is that clothes came back mixed, or that one person's order was used to settle another person's bill. Both are avoidable with process rather than goodwill.

Each person books their own order. It is counted with that person at the door, packed separately from every other customer's order in the building and in the city, and covered by a written receipt at pickup. Three flatmates get three orders back. That is it.

The orders themselves are typically small and frequent — five or six shirts mid-week rather than a weekend pile — and that is fine. ## Shirts, sneakers and the occasional emergency

Washing and pressing office shirts properly is the bulk of the work: collars, cuffs, and the antiperspirant build-up that yellows white shirts from the inside. Sneakers are the other standing request in a young catchment, and mesh, canvas, leather and suede each take a different treatment — a suede pair cleaned like canvas is a ruined pair.
