Leather is its own craft

A leather jacket, a good handbag or a pair of dress shoes cannot be cleaned the way a shirt is cleaned, and most of the damage we see was done by someone who tried. Leather that is wet-cleaned goes stiff. Leather that is scrubbed loses its finish. Leather that is stored damp grows mould in a Gurugram monsoon and that is very hard to undo.

So leather is handled separately from every other load here. We look at the item at your door, tell you what it actually is under the finish, and give you a straight answer about what can be improved and what is permanent. A scuff on a bag corner and a crack across a jacket elbow are not the same conversation, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

The ordinary side of the sector

Behind the leather sits a normal residential load: shirts pressed, trousers, bedding, sarees and suits dry cleaned, kids' clothes washed. Collections come from tower doors and from the lower-rise frontage, and everything is counted piece by piece with a written receipt, leather included and photographed at the door if you want it recorded.

One habit worth picking up here is not leaving leather until it looks bad. A jacket cleaned and conditioned at the end of each winter stays supple for years; one that is put away dusty for three seasons and then rediscovered is a much harder job and sometimes an impossible one. The same goes for a work bag that lives on an office floor all week.
