We check the toy at pickup for battery compartments, glued eyes and stitched seams that will not survive a wash, and we tell you honestly which ones can be done thoroughly and which need a lighter treatment.
If it is the only toy that matters to your child, send it on a day when a substitute has a chance, and tell us it is the important one so we handle it accordingly.
